Stick with me here. It is finally Friday. You are at work bouncing between multiple issues, celebrating wins, learning from the losses. Then you hop in your car to go home and pack the car to go camping. You drive there, running through the items you packed, hoping the weather […]
In February, I determined that I needed to work on my spending habits. I had let them slip and I wanted to start implementing more intentional spending habits. At the beginning of the year, I had heard all about people starting their No Buy and Low Buy Challenges. I decided […]
In recent months, I’ve noticed a tendency to make unnecessary purchases, leading to clutter and a drain on both my time and savings. To address this, I embarked on a Low Buy challenge throughout February. It was my first time doing this type of challenge, and I’m eager to share […]
In my previous post, I mentioned how digital declutter is one of the intentional living tips that I consistently come back to. I find it very important as it is a time saver, more secure, and lessens stress. Today I want to dive into that a little deeper. What is […]
Three years ago I stumbled into learning about minimalism. I was originally drawn to the concepts because I was anxious, overwhelmed, and starting to learn about overconsumption. Over these last 3 years, I have continued to evolve when it comes to utilizing and trying different minimalism recommendations. It has me […]

This summer was the first time I tried my hand at gardening and composting. I, lightheartedly, did not have the outcome I was hoping for. The compost is composting so slow and the “garden” looks a bit comical with the amount of wilted cucumber vines all over the place. While […]
I love nature. I love going hiking. I appreciate a windy day as it blows through the trees. I love soaking up the sun on our rare warm days in the Midwest. I can appreciate fish from afar, but not up close, those things are nasty. I can appreciate the […]
We go to the doctor when our leg starts to hurt. We go to the doctor when we are feeling sick. What are the signs that it may be time to take a step back and take care of our mental health? I want to share one of my signs with you today.
Greenwashing to me is not a yes or no answer, but a sliding scale. We have to make the best decision we can as a consumer based on what we know and how it compares to other goods on the market. Want to learn more? Check out my recent blog here.
There are a lot of articles out there for minimalism decluttering. I have read my fair share. Those articles are great to get you in the mood to declutter and simplify your day to day. For me, one tip has been the most eye opening. That is what I would like to briefly chat about today.
I would like to touch on a book recommendation this week. I recently finished the book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
When I started trying to be a bit more eco-conscious on my habits and purchases, it led me to list after list of recommended swaps. Let’s discuss some of the swaps I have tried and what I have liked and disliked. While I encourage everyone to give these a try, I think it is helpful to know what you are getting yourself into.
There are over 7.5 billion people in the world. Within that, we are given an unknown amount of time to spend with a certain amount of people. This includes friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, mentors, online communities, and others in our local community.
The more we dive into the climate crisis, the more we realize the world is on fire. Much of it feels out of our immediate control. It is easy to dive into figuring out how to help, only to find ourselves feeling utterly hopeless, and then decide it is someone else’s problem. It is difficult to stay focused when so much of the world is disconnected in solving these very complex issues. We need governments, companies, non profits, and individuals to come together to get things done. So what can I do?
I would like to start this post off by stating that I am new to all things gardening. I keep the houseplants alive that I do have by sheer luck and by choosing houseplants that are hard to kill. That being said, I decided for the following reasons for why […]
Hey everyone! This week, I decided to do something lighthearted. It was an exercise of sorts as I considered the whole Wizarding World of Harry Potter and what aspects could be considered sustainable. I hope it makes you smile. Have a great day!
I am continually caught in the thought process of “I will not be able to do this perfectly, so why even bother?” I have thought this way in terms of trying a new hobby, eating healthy, working out, expanding my professional career skills, and so many other things. I may give something the “ol’ college try” then fail and never circle back. However, looking back I am more proud of myself for the times I tried and failed then the times I never tried at all.
As someone who tries to live intentionally, I find myself gravitating to articles, videos, and conversations that pertain to minimalism and intentionality on a regular basis. It is not talked about on a daily basis, so in order to encourage the habit and the mindset, I like to be reminded. This blog could be one source that brings up intentional topics for you. Ideas to ponder or try out if you are looking for a change.
When learning about sustainability, regenerative farming is a topic that really is fascinating. Growing up in a farming community and North Dakota being mostly farmland, it is exciting to know that regenerative agriculture is a key tool in combating climate change.
I look back at my past and I see many different moments that I am overly interested in wearing whatever others are wearing. In elementary and middle school years, I looked forward to that new set of clothes at the beginning of the year. In high school, the biggest past […]

These mindset changes have really helped me take a step back and appreciate what is more important. Depending on what is important to you will shape what it looks like for you.
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is floating garbage in between California and Hawaii. According to this study, it is approximately 600,000 square miles. To put it into perspective, that is nearly the size of Alaska. These garbage patches have massive amounts of plastic in the forms of fishing nets, packaging, […]
